MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (4-6) defeated Bryan (4-7) 65-60 Wednesday night in the NAIA Southeastern Challenge, part of the Miami-Doral Hotels Classic.Â
Four Bobcats scored in double figures led by point guard
Samara Auguste (16 pts) and
Supavadee Kunchuan (14 pts).Â
Emily May scored 14 points and
Katie Rienas added 11 points in the winning cause.
The two teams played evenly in the first half with the score tied 17-17 at the end of the first quarter and 28-28 heading into intermission. STU then outscored the Lions 20-12 in the third quarter to build a lead that was maintained through the final period.
Auguste also led all players with five assists, while Kunchuan pulled down a game-high seven rebounds. The Bobcats hit seven three-pointers on the night with May, Rienas and
Jordan Charlton each hitting two shots from behind the arc.
St. Thomas returns to action as the Miami-Doral Hotels Classic and the NAIA Southeastern Challenge continues Thursday. The Bobcats will host Point University at 6 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
