St. Petersburg, Fla.- No. 24 St. Thomas (25-13, 9-5 TSC) defeated Eckerd College (9-15) by a score of 5-3 at Eckerd College Baseball Field.
 
Bobcats got on the board in the second with a sacrifice fly to left from Jack Diaz scoring Cesar Ramirez. Tritons answered back in the third to tie the game and then take the lead in the fourth. The lead was short lived after a big fifth inning by the Bobcats with Ramirez base clearing two RBI triple scoring Jose Gomez and Oscar Rodriguez. STU wasn't done there; Diaz came through again with an RBI scoring Ramirez putting the Bobcats in the lead 4-2. The Tritons inched closer in the seventh scoring a run keeping themselves in the game. St. Thomas got an insurance run in ninth scoring Gomez off a wild pitch putting the Bobcats up two going into the bottom half of the inning.
 
St. Thomas pitching was led by Alejandro Kan who allowed two earned runs on six hits with one walk and six impressive strikeouts. Alex Viera came in the last two innings to close out the game for the Bobcats. Viera allowed no runs on two hits and two strike outs.
 
Next up for St. Thomas is a home game against Nova Southeastern University at Paul Demie Mainieri Field on Tuesday April 5^th at 6 p.m.
