Lawrenceville, Ga. – St. Thomas (0-1-1) fell to Middle Georgia State (3-0-0) by a score of 2-1 at the Grizzly Classic.

After a long first day of the tournament, the Bobcats opened with a slow start. MGA notched the games first goal in the 32
nd minute of the match on a through pass that ended up in the back of the net for the Knights.

St. Thomas headed into the half down 1-0. The Bobcats picked up the pace late in the game scoring an equalizing goal from
Artur Sharapov assisted by
Fabian Heinrich in the 69
th minute of the match. The offensive attack was led by Sharapov who had seven shots, three of which were on goal. Harry Molynuex added another three shots and
Kris Wilkinson with two shots, both on goal.

The tie score was short lived as MGA took the lead a couple seconds after STU tied the match. The Knights held on to the lead for a final of 2-1.

Next up for the Bobcats is the first official home game of the season Tuesday, September 6
th against Nova Southeastern University at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a special dedication of the new lighting system at the STU Soccer Fields at 7:15 p.m.
