Thomasville, Ga. – St. Thomas (5-2, TSC 1-1) took care of business on the road with a 1-0 win over Thomas University (2-6, TSC 1-1) in a Sun Conference match up. With the win, STU splits its road trip to begin conference play.
The Bobcats wanted to come out aggressive to start the match as there were playing in their second game on the road this weekend.
Taylor Malone got on the board first in the 20
th minute with a dynamic strike that found the back of the net. It was Malone's only shot on goal.
Jannel Johnson led the team with three shots two of which were on goal.
The story of the match was goalkeeper
Olivia Waller who earned her third shutout of the season combined with exceptional play by the Bobcat defense. The defense held the Night Hawks to only seven shots with four on goal. Waller took care of the rest totaling four saves in the match; none bigger than back-to-back saves in the 70
th and 74
th minutes of the match keeping Thomas scoreless. She came in clutch once again for the Bobcats with a save in the 88
th minute of the match to close out the game.
Next up for the Bobcats is another Sun Conference match up on the road as they take on University of South Carolina Beaufort in Bluftton, S.C. on Friday, September 30 at 5 p.m.
