Miami Gardens, Fla. - #21 St. Thomas (16-2, 5-1 TSC) swept Keiser (11-4, 2-3 TSC) in straight sets on Wednesday night at the Fernandez Family Center, avenging the loss from two weeks ago. With the win, the Bobcats improved to a perfect 11-0 record at home. STU has won 33 of 36 sets played this season at the Fernandez Center.

To begin the first set, the Bobcats came out hot, as did the Seahawks. However, STU's very own
Whitney Battoe set the tone early. With the match tied at one, Battoe smashed a roaring spike to give the Bobcats the point. Soon after, the Seahawks went on a 6-2 run bringing the score to 7-4.
Late in the first set, the Bobcats went on a five-point run to stretch the lead to 22-16. Trying to catch momentum, the Seahawks scored two consecutive points to bring their deficit to four but STU would continue to apply pressure, outscoring Keiser 3-1 to end the set.
Energy levels were high as the fans brought the noise. The second set was no different than the first as St. Thomas and Keiser kept a firm battle for the lead. Late in the second set, the Bobcats were up 20-19. The scoring run began, with STU scoring five straight points to take set two.
As the saying goes, 'the ball is in your court' and it was just that for the Bobcats. Evenly matched throughout, STU and KU exchanged points up until the thrid set was tied at 20. St. Thomas started its 4-0 run when
Kadeeja Griffin was set up by
Dana Nowaczyk for a thunderous kill. With the score reading 24-20, Keiser would respond but ultimately fall short as the Bobcats completed the sweep avenging their lone loss in conference play.
Leading the match with 12 kills was Battoe, who also recorded one service ace, one block assist, and four digs. Following closely behind her were teammates
Shanotta Bawek (8 kills, 13 digs, 1 block assist),
Marisa Markus (8 kills, 3 digs), and Griffin (8 kills, 2 block assists). Assisting in the offensive efforts, Nowaczyk posted a team-high 23 assists along with 11 digs and one service ace. Sophomore setter
Priscila Ertty filed 12 assists, three digs and one service ace. Defensively for STU,
Haley Bannister registered another match high with 17 digs, as well as one assist and one service ace.
Heading up to Ave Maria, Fla., St. Thomas hits the hardwood in another face off against a Sun Conference opponent on Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m. at the Tom Golisano Field House.
The next home game for the Bobcats is Wednesday, October 5 at 7 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
