AVE MARIA, Fla. – St. Thomas (8-0-1, 5-0) remained undefeated and perfect in The Sun Conference with a 7-0 shutout win over host Ave Maria (0-0, 0-9 TSC) on Wednesday afternoon.

Jannel Johnson led the Bobcat offensive attack with two goals in the match to bring her team-high goal total to 12 on the season. In total, six different Bobcats scored goals with
Sarah Lyppert Thomsson,
Andrea Manzur,
Alexa Rivera,
Eva Castano Candela and
Lisa Wallje joining Johnson in the goal scoring parade.
The Bobcat defense and goalkeeper
Cristina Garwacki shut out their opponent for the third consecutive match and the sixth time in nine matches this season.   STU has registered shutouts in four its five conference matches this year.Â
In total, the goal differential for the 2017 season for the Bobcats is staggering with STU outscoring opponents 36-3 this season and not allowing more than one goal scored in any game.
In Wednesday's affair, the Bobcats dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Gyrenes by an incredible 50-3 advantage.
Johnson began the scoring with a goal on a header less than three minutes into the action. Lyppert Thomsson then made the score 2-0 with a goal in the 12th minute. Johnson scored her second goal of the match on an assist by
Sarah Adams in the 22nd minute which was followed by Manzur's goal assisted by
Alexa Leizorek.
With a comfortable lead at halftime of 4-0, the Bobcats added to their goal total beginning with a goal by Rivera in the 62nd minute. Castano Candela found the back of the net in the 79th minute followed by the match's final goal, a strike by Wallje on an assist by
Kylie Braeseke.
Garwacki had a clean sheet, needing just one save to notch the shutout.
St. Thomas returns to action with a critical match in the conference standings vs. 12
th ranked Southeastern in The Sun Conference Game of the Week on Saturday, 7 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
