STU CLINCHES REGULAR SEASON SUN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

BABSON PARK, Fla. - St. Thomas (9-1-1, 7-0 TSC) clinched the regular season Sun Conference championship Saturday as the Bobcats continued their dominant run through the Sun Conference with a 3-0 win over host Webber International (2-8-1, 0-6-1 TSC).

With Johnson & Wales tying Thomas Univ. on Saturday and St. Thomas already winning a potential head-to-head tiebreaker scenario with Keiser, the Bobcats have clinched the Sun Conference Regular Season Championship.  The regular season championship follows last year's Sun Conference Tournament Championship for the Bobcats.

It marked the eighth regular season Sun Conference championship for St. Thomas with the last regular season title coming in 2012.

On Saturday afternoon, Federico Moronell and Jon Quintana each scored goals for the Bobcats with the third goal coming on an an own goal.

The scoring was opened up by Federico Moronell, early on in the match in the 11th minute, this goal was his team leading 12th of the season. Just before the halftime whistle the Bobcats netted another goal, this time from Jon Quintana, his third of the season off an assist from Danny Martinez, his third.

Goalkeeper Connor Christie recorded another clean sheet for his efforts today in net, only needing two saves behind the strong defense of the Bobcats.

STU has now outscored conference opponents 29-2 with five shutouts through its seven conference games played this season.

The Bobcats will return to action looking to defend their home turf against the Wildcats from Johnson and Wales, on Wednesday, Oct.25th at 7:00 p.m.
