PERFECT TSC MARK CONTINUES WITH SWEEP AT KEISER

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - St. Thomas (13-10, 10-0 TSC) remained perfect in Sun Conference play with a 3-0 sweep of host Keiser (8-18, 5-7 TSC) on Tuesday night.

The three-set victory marked the sixth sweep for the Bobcats in their 10 wins in conference play.

Whitney Battoe led the Bobcats with 16 kills and Haley Bannister was the top defender with 16 digs.

Offensively, Carly Durr added nine kills with Carli Batsel delivering six kills in the three-setter.  Setter Kimberly Martino was the top facilitator with a match-high 29 assists.

The service ace was a valuable weapon as well with Bannister (three aces), Veronica Gomez (two aces) and Battoe (one ace) all stifling the KU defense with serves.

KU stayed within reach for most of the first set.  The Bobcats however pulled away late in the set with a kill by Battoe followed by a match point with Gomez serving.  The point ended up with Gomez in a setting situation and she delivered with a pass to Battoe for the set-winner 25-22.

Set two featured a strong Bobcat scoring run with Bannister serving to provide a cushion for the final points.  Battoe finished off the Seahawks again on set point with a 25-19 set-winning kill from Martino.

In the third set, the Bobcats sensed the opportunity for another sweep as a kill by Courtney White made the score 22-16.  Gomez again was inserted to serve and she delivered with back-to-back aces.  An attack error by the Seahawks on another Gomez serve gave STU match point to continue its perfect 10-game winning streak in TSC play.

Next up for STU is a return home to the Fernandez Family Center tomorrow night vs. Florida Memorial for Dig Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Match time is 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match and contribute to fundraising for this important cause.
