BOBCATS WRAP UP PHENOMENAL REGULAR SEASON

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – St. Thomas (11-2-1, 8-2 TSC) completed its regular season with a 1-0 shutout over host SCAD-Savannah (9-8-1, 4-6 TSC) on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Bobcats concluded a remarkable regular season where they outscored opponents 45-7 with nine shutouts in 14 matches.
 
On Saturday, Amyah Banks scored the game's lone goal in the 50th minute on an assist by Sharon Tejeda.  It marked the fourth goal of the year for Banks and Tejeda's first assist of the year.  Goalkeeper Cristina Garwacki earned her ninth shutout on the season.
 
Defenders Lisa Wallje, Kylie Braeseke, Nichole Maribona, Sarah Adams, Amanda Gordon, Chelsea Trost and Karina Velazquez have been superb all season and dominant as of late.  The Bobcat defense has allowed just seven goals and 59 shots on goal this season en route to nine shutouts.  The Bobcats allowed a remarkable 0.500 goals and 4.2 shots on goal per game on the year.
 
Saturday marked the third straight shutout for the Bobcats who have not allowed a goal in 279 minutes of play.   Garwacki came up big with seven saves to preserve yet another shutout.
 
On the season, the Bobcats' two only two losses came to opponents currently in the top 10 in the NAIA Coaches Poll, losing to no. 6 Keiser and no. 10 Southeastern.  The other eight conference games were all victories, while STU went 3-0-1 in non-conference action.  In the eight conference wins, STU outscored its opponents by a dominant 30-1.
 
With an 8-2 conference record, St. Thomas earned the third seed in The Sun Conference Tournament with the Bobcats hosting a quarterfinals match on Saturday, November 4.
