STU SHUTS OUT KEISER IN SUN CONFERENCE GAME OF THE WEEK

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – 17th ranked St. Thomas (6-1., 4-0 TSC) shut out host Keiser (4-3. 2-2-1) 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon in a rematch of last year's Sun Conference Championship game.  Konstantinos Mylonas scored twice to lead the Bobcats offensively, while the STU defense recorded its third shutout of the year.

In the match, billed as The Sun Conference Men's Soccer Game of the Week, the Bobcats struck first on a Mylonas goal in the 29th minute.  The native of Greece scored on a volley off an assist by Pablo Gill.

In the first half, the Bobcats fired off 11 shots, including five shots on goal.  Meanwhile, the Bobcat defense was dominant in the first half holding the Seahawks to just two shots overall and no shots on goal. 

The score remained 1-0 through halftime until Roni Luokkamaki scored on a header off a cross by Danny Martinez in the 56th minute.  It marked the first goal of the season for Luokkamaki and the second assist of the year for Martinez.

Now enjoying a two-goal lead, the Bobcats continued dominating on both ends throughout the second half capped off by an insurance goal by Mylonas in the 71st minute to make the score 3-0.  The second goal of the game for Mylonas came off a corner kick on a double assist by Gill and Pedro Silva.  It marked the second assist on the day for Gill who brought his assist total to five on the season, and the first assist of the year for Silva.  Mylonas earned his first multi-goal performance as a Bobcat bringing his season goal total to six, second highest on the team.

The STU defense was superb from start to finish, holding Keiser to a total of seven shots with just one shot on goal for goalkeeper Robert Barton.  The shutout was Barton's third of the year.

St. Thomas has now outscored its opponents 28-9 on the year.  Five of STU's six wins this season have been by a margin of three or more goals.

The win marked the second straight victory by the Bobcats over Keiser having defeated KU 1-0 in last year's Sun Conference Championship Game.  With the win, STU improved its all-time record vs. Keiser to 12-9-2.

St. Thomas returns to action and will look to remain undefeated in conference play with a match vs. Florida Memorial at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Bobcat Field.  Live video and stats for the match will be provided at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/stu/
