WINTER PARK, Fla. - St. Thomas (1-4) dropped a road game at NCAA DII Rollins (4-0) 62-54 on Monday evening.Â
The Bobcats were competitive most of the game with Rollins, one of the top teams in the Sunshine State Conference.
Samara Auguste scored a team-high 14 points and dished out a team-high four assists.
Katie Rienas scored 13 points, hitting four three-pointers. Â
Keiana Brooks added nine points for the Bobcats.
On the glass, Kristina Burgarski and Ebony Griffin were STU's top rebounders, each pulling down seven boards.
STU led at several points in the first quarter as the score ended up 18-18 at the end of one period. Eight of Auguste's 14 points came in the opening period as the Bobcats' point guard was troublesome to the Rollins defense.
The Tars took a 38-30 lead into halftime, but the Bobcats battled back with a 14-7 advantage in the third quarter to trail 45-44 at the end of three.
Rollins opened the fourth quarter on an 8-2
run to pull away from STU and never trailed from there.
Next up for the Bobcats is a road game at another NCAA DII school from the Sunshine State Conference. Â STU will visit Lynn in Boca Raton on Saturday at 2 p.m.
