STU DROPS ROAD GAME TO NCAA DII LYNN

BOCA RATON, Fla. - St. Thomas (1-5) fell to host Lynn (2-4) 71-58 on Saturday afternoon in STU's second straight match up against an NCAA DII foe.

Samara Auguste led the Bobcats offensively with 23 points and defensively with six steals.  Katie Rienas added 15 points for STU, while Ebony Griffin pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with seven points.

St. Thomas was sharp in the first quarter taking an early 25-19 lead at the end of the period.  Rienas scored 12 points in the opening period hitting four field goals, including a three-pointer and making all three of her free throw attempts.  STU 's defense was relentless in the opening period, forcing 11 early Lynn turnovers on eight steals.

The Fighting Knights fought back in the second quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 20-10 in the frame to take a 39-35 lead into intermission.  Lynn then pulled away in a 22-10 advantage in the third quarter.

The Bobcats recovered in the fourth period, especially on the defensive end as STU held Lynn to 2-of-10 shooting in the period.  The deficit was too much to overcome however as the Bobcats ultimately fell 71-58.

As a team, the Bobcats finished with a season-high 17 steals, while Lynn turned the ball over 29 times.  STU also held Lynn to 1-of-11 shooting from three-point land.  The Fighting Knights however had the better field goal percentage and won the rebounding battle to take the win.

St. Thomas returns to action with a conference road trip to Brunswick, Ga. to play Coastal Georgia on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
