BOBCATS CAP OFF REGULAR SEASON WITH TSC VICTORY

BRUNSWICK, GA.- St. Thomas (18-11, 15-1 TSC) took down TSC newcomers Coastal Georgia (10-13, 9-8 TSC) in the final regular season match of the 2017 campaign in four sets (3-1; 25-16, 13-25, 25-21, 25-18).
 
With the win, the Bobcats close out the regular season with the best Sun Conference record and sole possession of the regular season TSC Championship.
 
The first set went in favor of St. Thomas as their foot was on the gas pedal from beginning to end of the set. The Bobcats were led offensively by Whitney Battoe, totaling seven kills as well as an assisted block with Courtney White in the set. Haley Bannister also added a service ace early on in the set, as the Bobcats cruised to an easy first set win.
 
Second set score line went in favor of the home Mariners, as they bounced back and returned the favor of a dominating Bobcats set one with a strong set two of its own. Early in the second set the Bobcats made it even at 3-3 but that was as close as the second set would be as the Mariners rallied with nine unanswered points to provide them with an insurmountable lead as they coasted to a win in the set, 13-25.
 
The Bobcats responded in the third set winning it, 25-21. Haley Bannister added two more service aces in the set to spark the Bobcat offense. 

In the fourth and final set of the match, the Bobcats were able to capitalize on the Mariners errors en route to a 25-18 set win. Kelli Kosydor added a service ace for the Bobcats. 

Overall on the match, the Bobcats were led by Battoe with 23 kills, Kimberley Martino got over the 1,000 assist mark on the season as well during the match as she finished with 36 on the match. On the defensive end, Victoria Philpot added 3 blocks and Bannister had 11 digs in addition to her 3 service aces. 

Up next for the Bobcats is The Sun Conference playoffs as the Bobcats have clinched the number one overall seed by winning the regular season title. The number one seed gives the Bobcats a bye to the conference semi-finals as well as the opportunity to host the tournament at the Fernandez Family Center. Semi-final action begins on Friday, November 10th.
