STU IMPROVES WIN STREAK TO THREE STRAIGHT GAMES, 4-0 IN CONFERENCE PLAY

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA.-St. Thomas (4-5, 4-0 TSC) took down conference rivals Keiser (4-8, 1-4 TSC) and improved to a perfect 4-0 in Sun Conference play on Thursday night by a final score of 73-56.

On the night, four Bobcats scored in double figures as consistency was key. Every quarter, minus the fourth, ended in favor of the visiting team as the pressure never let up.

The first quarter had KU jump out to its biggest lead of the game with five straight points to open up the game. After that, the Bobcats came back and battled the opposition until the lead was diminished and in turn, taken by STU.

Second quarter play had St. Thomas net over 20 points in a quarter for one of two consecutive quarters in this game. 21 points were scored in the quarter, compared to Keiser's 16, which led the Bobcats to the half with a 40-31 advantage, and it would only get better.

It was the third quarter that really had STU open this game up as a game-high 18-point lead was recorded midway through the third. The opening run for the Bobcats consisted of a 9-to-2 run in which Keiana Brooks scored five of her eight points while Ebony Griffin recorded two points, a steal and two assists.

The third quarter pretty much dictated how the rest of the game went as the Bobcats never looked back. The final score of the game read 73-56, which provided STU another win to add to its perfect record in conference play which is currently at 4-0.

Notable numbers on the night came from senior Katie Rienas as she recorded a game-high 18 points with a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, five rebounds and two steals. Samara Auguste had herself a night as well as she registered 14 points. Her defensive efforts in the game were spectacular as she grabbed five rebounds, all defensive, and a career-high nine steals in the game. Griffin picked up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Next up for the Bobcats is a weekend home conference matchup against Johnson & Wales on Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
