THOMASVILLE, Ga. - St. Thomas (12-13, 8-6 TSC) defeated host Thomas (8-14, 5-9 TSC) 67-55 on Saturday afternoon in a Sun Conference match up.
From the first quarter, it was clear that the Bobcats came ready to battle in this Sun Conference contest.
After a 6-6 tie game with 7:27 left on the clock, the Bobcats went on a 15-to-9 run to take control of the game heading in to the second quarter by a score of 21-15.
The second quarter brought a tighter matchup, although the lead for STU reached a game-high 16 points mid-way through the second. The closest the Night Hawks got to the Bobcats in this quarter was 23-15 with 9:32left in the quarter, but a quick layup from
Supavadee Kunchuan and a three from
Katie Rienas brought STU back up by 13 points.
The third quarter brought more of the same, although TU won the battle 13-11 to take the only quarter lead of the night.
With the score reading 57-50, in favor of STU, the Bobcats went on a 10-to-5 run to close out the quarter and the game by a final score of 67-55.
Kunchuan led all scorers with 17 points to go along with 13 rebounds, to earn her fifth double-double of the season. Five Bobcats scored in double figures with
Emily May (14 pts),
Desanta' Franklin-Jordan (13 pts),
Samara Auguste (13 pts), and Rienas (11 pts) joining Kunchuan.
Next up for the Bobcats is a conference matchup in West Palm Beach on Thursday, February 16 at 7 p.m. against Keiser.
