WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Host Keiser (18-10, 10-5 TSC) defeated St. Thomas (12-14, 8-7 TSC) 73-60 on Thursday night.
Emily May scored 20 points and
Katie Rienas was 7-for-7 from the free throw line en route to 18 points to lead the Bobcats.
With 3:21 left in the first quarter, STU was able to tie the quarter at 7-7, but the Seahawks went on a 7-to-0 run to end the quarter with a 7-point lead.
The recovery was tough for the team as they could only bring the KU lead down to a mere two points, with the help from Reinas scoring 10 points in the first half.
Coming in to the third quarter the Bobcats were down 30-25 bringing it to within three points with 3:21 left in the quarter.
Ultimately St. Thomas could not bring the score line in their favor as the Seahawks would take a commanding fourth quarter lead to end the game at 73-63.
The game had three lead changes, but the Bobcats were unable to overcome the 13-point deficit. Aside from May and Rienas' performances,
Supavadee Kunchuan led STU in rebounds with seven. The Seahawks outshot the Bobcats 46.6% to 35.5% in field goal percentage.
The Bobcats will cap off the regular season at home on Saturday, February 18 at 7 p.m. vs Warner at the Fernandez Family Center. It will be Senior Night, so
Supavadee Kunchuan,
Desanta' Franklin-Jordan, and
Emily May will be honored pregame for finishing their careers at St. Thomas University.
