THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Ninth ranked Thomas University (25-9, 6-4 TSC) took game one of a three-game Sun Conference series over St. Thomas (7-20, 3-7 TSC) 7-2 late Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as
Alysha Coyle doubled in her first at bat of the game. After advancing to third base on a base hit by
Alliyah Sands, Coyle scored on a balk to give the Bobcats the 1-0 lead.
The Nighthawks tied the game in the bottom of the first, then took a 3-1 lead after three innings.
STU battled back to within one run in the top of the fourth as
Emily Santos hit an RBI-double to drive in
Dayma Pla. The Nighthawks then added a run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to pull away in the final innings.
The series concludes Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. in Thomasville, Ga.
