MIAMI GARDENS, Fla-- No. 12 St. Thomas (14-7) fell to Felician (5-3) by a score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. Offensively, Bobcats hitters weren't able to get to Felician starter Rob Naughton until the sixth inning, when
Orlando Rivera hit a single to right field, breaking up Naughton's no-hitter.Â
STU fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, and Felician stretched their lead to 4 after the third inning. The Bobcats were able to get on the board in the seventh inning, when
David Palenzuela scored on a sac fly by
Daniel Lowry. Felician pitchers were able to bring their A-game to the ballpark, holding Bobcat hitters to just three hits in the game.
Bobcat relievers combined for 6 1/3 IP, as
Jose Pupo,
Devon Stubbings,
Tyler Morales, and
Brandon Valentin kept their team within striking distance of Felician. Ultimately, Felician was able to hold on for a 4-1 victory.Â
St. Thomas will be back in action, Monday, March 6 at 6 p.m. against College of St. Joseph at Paul Demie Mainieri Field. Make sure you head out to the field as your Bobcats continue their week-long schedule in the STU Baseball Invitational.Â
