BOBCATS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER, BUT DROP SERIES TO WARRIORS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla – St. Thomas (28-12, 11-7 TSC) split a Saturday doubleheader with Sun Conference foe Webber International (28-8, 10-5 TSC), losing the first game 12-8, but taking game two 13-5.

Game one featured a ton of offense, but the Warriors ended up on top of the Bobcats in the end. Highlights from that game for St. Thomas included a home runs by David Palenzuela, a three-run shot, and a solo homer by Michael Centeno. Centeno continues to feast off of opposing pitching, knocking home runs over the wall, with 15 on the year.

The second game of the day went in favor of the Bobcats, 13-5. STU had big offensive innings in the first, fifth, and sixth, plating three or more runs in each of those innings. In the sixth, Bobcat hitters scored seven runs with the help of multiple walks by Warriors pitching.  Randy Oliva homered, while Orlando Rivera went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.

Chris Rodriguez (6-1) worked 7.2 IP allowing just four runs, striking out five Warriors. Devon Stubbings worked 2.1 IP to finish off the Warriors, sealing a victory for St. Thomas.

STU will be back in action on Wednesday, April 5, at Mark Light Field to take on the Miami Hurricanes. Make sure to head out to Coral Gables to cheer on your Bobcats.
