MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (33-14, 15-8 TSC) defeated host Florida Memorial (9-27-1, 2-17-1) 12-4 Friday afternoon.
Starting pitcher
Kenny Roder (7-2) retired the first 12 batters he faced en route to a 7-inning, 4-hit performance.
Jose Pupo came on in relief to preserve the win.
Offensively,
Daniel Lowry was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and
Michael Centeno went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the Bobcats.
STU opened the scoring on a RBI double by Lowry that scored
German Morales, then made the score 2-0 on an RBI-single by
Oscar Rodriguez scoring Centeno.
In the fourth inning, a 2-RBI double by
Orlando Rivera scored Morales and Lowry to go along with an RBI-double by
Michael Centeno that brought Rivera across the plate.
In the fifth, the Bobcats added a run on a sac fly by Lowry before a huge five-run sixth inning that put the game out reach.
The series continues Saturday with a doubleheader at Florida Memorial.
