MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- St. Thomas defeated NJCAA school Miami Dade College in an exhibition match on Tuesday night by a final score of 8-1 at Paul Demie Mainieri Field.

This exhibition game marked the opening of the 2018 Baseball Preseason as the Bobcats will host its second and final preseason game against NJCAA school, Broward College on Friday, January 26.

On the night, St. Thomas exhibited nine different pitchers with each throwing one inning a piece.

Combined, the nine pitchers- Orlando Rodriguez, Chris Rodriguez, Rene Arauz, Tyeler Checkley, Danger Guevara, Miguel Rodriguez, Tyler Morales, Jose Pupo and Erne Valdes- struck out 10 Shark batters and allowed just three hits and one unearned run.

Offensively, senior center fielder Oscar Rodriguez led the Bobcats with three runs scored, on two hits, including a double. Randy Oliva went 2-for-3 with a RBI double. Erick Delgado recorded two hits, two RBI, a triple and a run scored. Sergio Lopez also doubled for the Bobcats.

In all, STU totaled eight runs, 10 hits and four extra base hits.
 
Next up for St. Thomas is a home exhibition game against Broward College on Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m. at Paul Demie Mainieri Field.
