TWO BOBCATS EARN CAREER NUMBERS AHEAD OF SUN CONFERENCE CLASH

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- St. Thomas (12-7) closed out its second night facing University of the Virgin Islands (0-7) with a win late Thursday night at the Fernandez Family Center by a final score of 88-74.
 
Heading into tonight's game, the Bobcats were 11-2 in the last 13 games played, with the only two losses over the stretch coming against Barry University and Southeastern University.
 
Samara Auguste exploded on the night with a career-high 30 points as she played a huge role in the STU win.
 
Along with her career-best in points, she also bested her previous record of six assists with seven on the night. She also tallied six rebounds (all defensive) and seven steals.
 
Auguste wasn't the only one earning career accolades as Destiny Wilson registered career-highs in points (17) and steals (five).
 
The first half had Ebony Griffin written all over it as she had 14 points at the break, which went along smoothly with Auguste's 10 first half points.
 
Tonight's matchup brought a different Virgin Islands squad as they led the way heading into the locker room 41-40.
 
The third quarter opened up with the Auguste show as she earned two steals and made two field goals in the first two minutes of the quarter. This instantly brought the Bobcats back into contention as a 45-44 score line had UVI up by only one point.
 
Wilson capped off her night in the third and fourth quarter as she closed out the first half with only four points. 13 of her points came in the second half, with a perfect 2-for-2 shooting from beyond the arc.
 
The Bobcats won its 12th game of the season, 11th of the last 13 games, by a final score of 88-74.
 
Notable number on the night came from both Auguste (30 points, six rebounds, seven assists and seven steals) and Wilson (17 points, three rebounds and five steals).
 
Griffin closed out her night with 16 points while Keiana Brooks had 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
 
Next up for the Bobcats is an away conference matchup against cross-town rivals Florida Memorial on Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m.
