BOBCATS IMPROVE TO 6-0 IN SUN CONFERENCE PLAY

BABSON PARK, Fla. – St. Thomas (8-6, 6-0 TSC) remained perfect in Sun Conference play with a 71-62 road win at Webber International (6-10, 1-5 TSC) on Thursday evening.

With the win, the Bobcats have now won seven of their last eight games overall while improving to 6-0 in The Sun Conference.

Samara Auguste led all scorers with 19 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Ebony Griffin scored 12 points and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, while Katie Rienas also scored in double digits with 11 points to go along with five boards.  Keiana Brooks scored nine points with six rebounds and Kristina Bugarski added nine points as well.

The Bobcats put together a strong defensive performance forcing 27 turnovers by the Warriors and holding WIU to 38% shooting from the field, while allowing just two three-pointers by the host.

WIU jumped out to an 8-1 lead to start the game and ended the first quarter with a 19-12 lead.  The Bobcats locked down the Warriors defensively in the second quarter to flip the script, outscoring WIU 23-9 in the period to take a 35-28 lead into intermission.

STU continued to maintain a solid lead throughout the second half fighting off a WIU run that cut the lead to five points midway through the third.  A three-pointer by Auguste with 2:00 to play in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach for good as the Bobcats cruised to their sixth straight conference win.

St. Thomas returns to conference action with a home game vs. Warner on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
