STU LOSES TO #3 SEU ON ROAD

LAKELAND, FLA. – St. Thomas University's Women's Soccer team (4-5-1, 1-4-1 TSC) lost to third-ranked Southeastern University (12-1-1, 5-0-1 TSC) on Saturday night from the Southeastern Soccer Complex on Saturday night.

In a match-up against the #3 Southeastern Fire, 1st in the Sun Conference, St. Thomas came out of the gates with an aggressive offensive approach. Andrea Manzur took the first shot of the game, thirty seconds into the match as an attempt on net, which was saved by Southeastern goalkeeper, Holly Eddins. STU squandered several scoring opportunities before SEU netted the go-ahead goal in the 25th minute of the match as NAIA-leading goal scorer, Uchenna Kanu, scored her 32nd goal of the season.

Nine minutes later, Kanu recorded her second goal of the match, 33rd of the season to extend the Fire lead over the Bobcats. Prior to sending the game into the half, Eva Castano Candela attempted a shot-on-goal which was turned away.

The two clubs remained aggressive as the Bobcats attempted to catch-up to the Fire in the second half. Southeastern University kept attacking the net in an attempt to extend their lead and recorded a third goal, once again by Kanu, who finished with a hat trick.

Manzur and Kortney Hinden led the offense for STU as Manzur had three shots-on-goal, while Hinden had two shots. Freshman goalkeeper, Veronica Gonzalez recorded seven saves in her first match-up against a ranked opponent.

St. Thomas travels to West Palm Beach to take on sixth-ranked Keiser University as Sun Conference play continues for the Bobcats, who look to continue their TSC playoff push.
