BOBCATS SECURE THE VICTORY ON SENIOR NIGHT

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas University Men's Soccer team (6-6-2, 5-1-2 TSC) defeated the Webber International University Warriors (4-7-2, 1-6-0 TSC) on Senior Night at Bobcat Field. The Saturday night conference match-up ended with a score of 2-1.

The night started out with the spotlight on the six seniors on the team: Abraham Bibas, Santeri Bergman, Roni Luokkamaki, Paolo Espinoza, Vinicius Carvalho, and Robert Barton. Bibas took full advantage of this as he had six of the teams first seven shots in the half. He was able to net a goal in the 21st minute after a Webber foul that led to a free kick just on top of the box top put the team ahead 1-0.

The Bobcats held possession for most of the half as they continued to connect on passes and created opportunities with crosses and pressure in the box. Unlucky to come up with one in the back of the net.

Just as the second half began, freshmen Luis Stalin Munoz from Ecuador netted his first collegiate goal off a rebound from the Frank Long shot that bounced off the crossbar. This added to the lead and would ultimately be the game winning insurance goal need to capture yet another conference victory.

Notable Facts:
- The Bobcats have now won three consecutive Sun Conference match-ups.
- This begins a two game win streak for the team.
- Bobcats have the potential to clinch the 2nd spot for The Sun Conference Tournament and host a semi-final match for the third year in a row.

St. Thomas closes out the year with a road match at Johnson and Wales (Fla.) on Wednesday October 24th at 4 p.m. On behalf on STU Athletics we would like to thank the seniors for their time here at St. Thomas and for being "Leaders for Life".
