MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – On Wednesday night, under the lights at Bobcat Field, the St. Thomas University Women's Soccer team (6-6-1, 3-5-1 TSC) defeated Florida Memorial University (0-13-1, 0-9-0 TSC) with another offensively dominating performance, 5-0.
Â
Prior to the match tonight, STU had two honorary bobcats: Katelyn Maribona and Sophia Noa, two young girls who have down syndrome. Earlier in the year, The Master's University made a kind-donation to the Bobcats of $100 as they did with every team they traveled to in The Sun Conference. Coach
Michelle Smith and the team, then in turn, donated the cash to the Down Syndrome Association of Miami. The DSAM proudly collects money year and dedicates the donations to research for down syndrome. STU honored the cause by wearing an orange ribbon in their hair.

The scoring started early and often for the Bobcats, as
Alexa Leizorek scored her third goal of the season, just twenty seconds into the match, the assist was awarded to Eva Castaño Candela assist and gave STU an early 1-0 lead over FMU. St. Thomas maintained the aggressive offensive effort throughout the first-half, as senior-captain,
Kylie Braeseke recorded her first goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0.
Kortney Hinden got in on the offensive fun, scoring back-to-back goals, just three minutes apart in the 13th and 16th minute (her third-and-fourth goals) of the season to give the Bobcats a commanding 4-0 lead over the Lions.
The defense also stepped up in this match as they only allowed one shot in the second half. STU controlled the ball inside Lions territory for the majority of the match to maintain possession and grind the clock down. STU's offense remained aggressive, despite the 4-0 lead, Karla Translavina recorded her third-goal of the season to give St. Thomas a near insurmountable lead at 5-0 late in the match.
