BOBCATS GET FIRST TSC WIN OF SEASON VS MARINERS

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – St. Thomas University's Women's Bobcats Basketball team (4-4, 1-1 TSC) defeated the College of Coastal Georgia (6-4, 2-1 TSC) by a score of 74-67 on Thursday from the Fernandez Family Center.

Prior to the game, Senior, Samara Auguste was honored for joining the illustrious "1,000-point club" as a Bobcat. Auguste reached the milestone as a junior, against Sun Conference opponent, Ave Maria on February 15th.

STU started the game with a quick, 5-0 lead following a lay-up by Ebony Griffin and a three-point bucket by Dynasty Carter. The Mariners ran off an 8-2 run, in just under two minutes to claim their first lead of the game at 8-7. Auguste took over for the Bobcats, scoring six-consecutive points to tie the game at 13-13 with just under three minutes remaining in the quarter. Carter added another four-points, on two lay-ups, to guide St. Thomas to a 19-14 lead, after the first.

In the second quarter, Auguste dominated once again, running off an incredible 14-consecutive points to bring STU to a 35-26 lead. St. Thomas continued their dominance in the first half, as an "and-one" lay-up and the foul by Ebony Griffin gave the Bobcats a 17-point lead, 43-26 as the half wound to a close. CCGA added a buzzer-beating three to close the half at 43-29.

Coastal Georgia outscored St. Thomas, 20-11, in the third quarter as the game went into the fourth with STU hanging on to a five-point lead at 54-49.

In the final frame, the two teams traded buckets in a back-and-forth final ten minutes, as CCGA even cut the STU lead to just one on two occasions. Keiana Brooks, seemingly put the game away at around the three-minute mark, banking in a clutch lay-up to put the Bobcats up three. Jaddah Knight put the finishing touches on the St. Thomas win, knocking in all four free throw attempts in the final minute to seal a 74-67 Bobcat win.
