BOBCATS RUN CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK TO TWO WITH WIN OVER TU

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – St. Thomas University Women's Volleyball team (5-4, 2-1 TSC) defeated Thomas University (3-7, 1-3 TSC) in Sun Conference action, 80-70, from the Fernandez Family Center on Saturday afternoon.

The game began as a back-and-forth contest, as neither team could generate much separation. Thomas built the largest lead, at four points, before STU ran-off a 7-0 run to claim the lead. Jaddah Knight capped off the run with the final four points. The Nighthawks finished the first quarter leading the Bobcats 19-20.

TU maintained their lead in the second quarter and built it back to four points, before Keiana Brooks hit a clutch lay-up on an "and-one" and knocked in the free throw attempt. STU battled for the rest of the quarter with the Thomas, and finished the half with the lead, following a Gianni Domond bucket to put STU up 39-38.

Following the halftime break, the Nighthawks opened the half up with an 8-0 run, to reclaim the lead at 46-39. STU rallied and scoring ten unanswered points, as Ebony Griffin scored five points and the run was finished by a Dynasty Carter nailed a three-pointer to give STU a 49-46 lead. The Bobcats ended the quarter up by five-points as Samara Auguste knocked in two free throws to head into the final quarter up 54-49.

St. Thomas broke the game open, early in the fourth quarter, rushing out to a 12-point lead as Knight-led the way for the Bobcats. Thomas cut the STU lead to just four, with two minutes remaining in the
game. Brooks, once again, came up clutch for the Bobcats as she splashed-in a huge three with a minute remaining to seal the game. Samaria August, Knight and Brooks all knocked in free throws to ice the game as STU finished the victory.

Notables:
Ebony Griffin recorded her team-leading fifth "double-double" of the season and second in Sun Conference play.
Jaddah Knight recorded her first "double-double" of her STU-career and tied for the game-high in points (17).

Samara Auguste: 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists
Ebony Griffin: 15 points, 10 rebounds
Jaddah Knight: 17 points, 11 rebounds

The Bobcats return to the Fernandez Family Center on Thursday, December 6th against Keiser University, as Sun Conference play continues. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
