MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas University's Women's Basketball team (2-1) defeated the Florida National University Conquistadors (3-7) 88-46 on Thursday night from the Fernandez Family Center.
Ebony Griffin led St. Thomas on the offensive end the first five-minutes of the game, recording STU's first ten-points as the Bobcats opened up with a 10-2 run. FNU called a timeout to try and slow down the fast-paced STU offense, but it did not work, as the Bobcats scored another five-unanswered points, as
Destiny Wilson made a lay-up and
Dynasty Carter sank a three-pointer to open the lead to 15-4. The Conquistadors cut the Bobcats lead to ten, following a three-pointer of their own at 17-7, before Griffin once again got on the board with another layup to give herself 12-points in the first quarter.
The second quarter was much of the same as the first, as STU extended their lead to 14-points over FNU as

St. Thomas maintained their same enthusiasm on the offensive-end following the break, extending the lead to 22-points after Wilson made a lay-up. Florida National was unable to overcome the high-energy effort by the Bobcats on either side of the ball, falling behind by as many as 27-points late in the third quarter, as STU went into the final quarter leading by 26-points at 66-40.
The Bobcats kept pouring it on offensively, leading by 31-points after a
Samaria August three-point bucket. An incredible 14-0 run by St. Thomas had STU leading by double Florida National's points with 2:35 remaining in the game, as the run was capped off by an
Anari Dozier three-point bucket.
