DELGADO HOMER, TEAM EFFORT BY PITCHING STAFF LEADS STU TO WIN

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas University (11-1, 3-0 TSC) defeated Florida National University (2-8) 8-3 on Tuesday, February 20th at Paul Demie Mainieri Field. The win pushed the Bobcats win streak up to five in a row.

Ian Exposito got the starting nod for St. Thomas and pitched a short but extremely effective two innings, racking up three strikeouts and extending his streak to 13 consecutive innings without allowing a to start the year. Danger Guevara came out of the bullpen first for the Bobcats providing two innings. Jose Pupo earned the win in relief by coming into pitch the fifth and sixth innings. Tyeler Checkley and Erne Valdes each pitched and finished out the game.

The offense continued to produce all over, as eight of the hitters in the lineup had at least one hit. The Golden Rake recipient of the game went to Erick Delgado, who went 1-for-3 with a three run home run for his first home run in a St. Thomas University uniform. It was Delgado's first Golden Rake nomination. Chris Garabedian also added two hits for the Bobcats as he went 2-for-5. Sergio Lopez also had a 2-for-4 day, scoring twice for St. Thomas.

It is a quick turnaround for St. Thomas University, as the Bobcats take on the Gyrenes from Ave Maria University in midweek action on Wednesday, February 21st at Paul Demie Mainieri Field starting at 6 p.m.
