STU DROPS MIDWEEK GAME AGAINST AVE MARIA

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas University (11-2, 3-0 TSC) dropped Wednesday night's game against Ave Maria (6-12, 1-5 TSC) by a score of 5-2 at Paul Demie Mainieri Field.

Sawyer Losey made his first career St. Thomas University start, going two innings, not allowing a hit and striking out two Gyrenes. It was a pitcher by committee evening for the Bobcats as Ramid Alvarez, Eddie Escibano, Miguel Rodriguez, Alex Sarmiento, Ruben Ramos, Tyler Morales, Erne Valdes and Jose Pupo all pitched. The loss went to Erne Valdes who allowed four runs in just two-thirds of an inning.

Offensively for the Bobcats, Randy Oliva (2-4, Solo HR) hit his second home run of the season to give St. Thomas an early lead as he led off the second inning. Chris Garabedian (2-3, RBI) gave the Bobcats a lead in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly that brought in Gus Guerra.

Up next for St. Thomas University is a trip to West Palm Beach, as the #21 ranked Bobcats travel to take on the #10 Keiser University Seahawks in a conference series starting on Friday, February 23rd.
