MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (17-7, 13-1 TSC) won its eighth consecutive contest by a score of 67-58 against Keiser (5-21, 2-13 TSC) in a Saturday afternoon matchup at the Fernandez Family Center.
Katie Rienas was the standout player of the game, recording a game-high 25 points. Rienas joined the 1,000 point club with her performance, taking her career point total to 1,012. Her range was once again on display as she drained five three-pointers by game's end.
Ebony Griffin led the Bobcats on the glass with nine rebounds to go along with 11 points, just one rebound shy of her second double-double of the season.
Keiana Brooks also scored in double figures with 14 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting. Brooks also led all players with four steals.
Samara Auguste dished out a game-high nine assists.
The Bobcats were dominant in the first half of the game, leading by 14 going into halftime. The Seahawks did not go down without a fight, however, outscoring their opponents 20-11 in the third quarter. Ultimately, Keiser would be undone by St. Thomas due in large part to their 21 turnovers. The Bobcats scored 29 points off turnovers, making the Seahawks pay for their mistakes.
St. Thomas will be looking to extend their win streak to nine games when they travel to Warner University on Thursday, February 8 for a 6 p.m. tip off.
