HEART BREAK LOSS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME AGAINST FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – 12th Ranked St. Thomas University (1-1-0) traveled up the road to take on Division I Florida Atlantic University (1-2-0) on Saturday night. The Bobcats were defeated in heart breaking fashion in double overtime.
 
The game started out quiet as neither team took a shot until the 13th minute of the game. There was only a total of seven shots from both teams through the first half. Pablo Gil, Abraham Bibas, and Gabriel Oakley were the only Bobcats to record on shot, none of which were on goal. The stellar defense kept their end of the field quiet as well as the Owls only had three shots, only one of which was on goal.
 
They turned it around in the second half as the Owls had three consecutive corner kicks, but none that resulted with a shot. Bobcats' game one sensation, Itay Forkish came off the bench and took two shots to try and the get the offense going, but both were denied by the Owl defense. The Owls started to gain control of the match in the second half but were unable to captivate on six corner kick attempts, while they did land four of their seven shots on goal. Keeper Robert Barton and the defense were able to keep them scoreless.
 
The game moved into overtime, this would consist of a 10-minute period, first team to make a goal wins the match. The period was very steady as the defense settled in and only allowed one shot.
 
The game would move into double overtime, where ultimately the Owls would score the winning goal with 10 seconds remaining to take the match.
 
The Bobcats have gone 363 days since they last lost a match in regulation. (9/3/17 vs. #25 Lindsey Wilson).
 
St. Thomas will be back in action at home September 8 at 7 p.m. when they take on DII Nova Southeastern University at Bobcat Field.
