BOBCATS PICK UP FIRST CONFERENCE WIN ON THE ROAD

LAKE WALES, Fla. – St. Thomas University [3-4-1, 2-0-1 TSC] defeat the Warner University Royals [8-2-0, 2-1-0 TSC] 2-0 on the road.

Offense jumped on board early in the match, as Romario Atkinson was able to net a ball off a break away. Harry Molyneux assisted on the play as he played the ball up the field perfectly for Atkinson who was able to break away from the keeper who came out to try and limit the damage early, but was unable to do so, making this an easy open net goal for the Jamaican native Bobcat. This was Atkinson's first recorded goal in 17 games played at St. Thomas.

St. Thomas' known for having a strong defense, added a new face to the starting line-up back line, Matheus Louly Caixe, who found himself fitting in perfectly when the moment arose. The junior from Brazil shined when he was on a one-on-one down the line with a Royal forward and what seemed to be a good chance for them, Louly Caixe was able to keep pace and block the ball with 10 minutes remaining in the second half.

Meanwhile, back on the offensive end, Rodrigo Selaimen, was able to net his first collegiate goal off a rebound from the keepers deflect from a Harry Taylor shot. This would be the insurance goal the Bobcats needed to secure the win.

The two goals in the first half would be all that is needed to secure the first conference win on the season. The second half was construed of great defense and keeping as much possession as possible to run out the clock.

St. Thomas is back in action next Saturday, September 29th, at STU Soccer Field when they take on Thomas University at 1 p.m.
