ST. THOMAS FORCES DRAW IN TSC MATCH OF THE WEEK

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas University Men's Soccer team (3-4-2, 2-0-2) played to a draw against Thomas University (4-3-2, 3-0-1) in the Sun Conference game of the week from Bobcat Field on Sunday morning.

The game was a defensive struggle for the majority of the first half as neither team was able to net a goal within the first 44 minutes, when Thomas scored a go-ahead goal to take the game into the half with a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the 69th minute, when following a nice second-effort on a corner kick, Frank Long netted his first goal of the season as an equalizer to send the match of the week into its' final twenty minutes as a tie.

As regulation drew to a close, it became apparent this match-up of two undefeated conference opponents was heading into overtime, a familiar situation for the Bobcats as six of their nine matches this season have gone to the extra periods.

One overtime period was not enough to determine a winner, as the match went into double overtime but was unable to lead to a winner. It was the second draw of the season for the defending Sun Conference Champion, Bobcats who sit two games behind Southeastern for the regular season lead.

Up next, St. Thomas takes on Keiser University on Wednesday, October 3rd under the lights at Bobcat Field with the match starting at 7 p.m.
