LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia – St. Thomas University (3-1) lost their first match of the season by a score of 2-0 to the 18
th ranked Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies (4-0) on Friday night from the Grizzly Athletic Complex.
The Bobcats offense was limited to just four shots on the match by the Grizzly defense, compared to 31 for Georgia Gwinnett.
GGC scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 22
nd minute and the score held at 1-0 through the rest of the half. Gwinnett once again found the back of the net in the 61
st minute to take a 2-0 lead.
St. Thomas goalkeeper,
Veronica Gonzalez recorded 11 saves on the evening to provide the Bobcats offense an opportunity to stay in the game.
St. Thomas will be back in action on Wednesday, September 19
th from Bobcat Field against the Wildcats from Johnson & Wales to open Sun Conference play with the match scheduled to kick-off at 7 p.m.
