EXTRA TIME NOT ENOUGH AS BOBCATS TIE NIGHTHAWKS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 5, 2019) - St. Thomas University Women's Soccer (4-3-1, 2-0-1 TSC) finished in a draw in Sun Conference action against Thomas University (7-3-1, 2-0-1 TSC), tying 2-2 on Saturday afternoon from Bobcat Field.

Game Notes
  • Ten minutes into the game, Isabella Santiago, made an impact off the bench. Santiago entered the game moments earlier and scored the opening goal of the game in the tenth minute of the game. following a Jüllich assist.
  • Thomas didn't take long to respond, netting a goal in the 13th minute to tie the match.
  • The match remained deadlocked at 1-1, through halftime. At the break, STU out-shot TU, 6-5.
  • Following the break, Jüllich scored her fourth goal of the season, following a Medina assist to give the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage.
  • STU took six more shots than TU down the stretch in the second half, but could not record an additional goal to provide some insurance.
  • As the game clock entered its' final minute, the Nighthawks, in dramatic fashion, tied the match in the final 45-seconds, after a deflected free kick.
  • In the first overtime period, the Bobcat captains (Sandy Benito and Andrea Manzur), each took shots at the net and incredible saves from the TU goalie prevented STU from winning the match and sent the game to the second overtime.
  • Manzur had two additional opportunites in the second overtime but STU could not find the net, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
SID Fact
The last time STU tied a match in Sun Conference action was on 9/22/2018, when the Bobcats tied the same Nighthawks from Thomas (1-1).

St. Thomas travels to Lake Wales, Fla. on Saturday, October 12 to take on the Royals from Warner University in a Sun Conference match-up.
