STU CONTINUES DOMINANCE OVER WU

LAKE WALES, Fla. (November 21, 2019) – (RV) St. Thomas University Women's Basketball (3-2, 1-1 TSC) earned the first Sun Conference win of the 2019 – 20 season, with a 61 – 52 win over Warner University (1-5, 0-2 TSC) on Thursday evening.

Game Notes
  • Martinez – Sanz opened the Sun Conference game with back-to-back three-point attempts, making one and giving the Bobcats a 3-2 lead.
  • Dozier added a three-pointer of her own to extend the STU lead to 14-8, midway through the opening quarter.
  • Two minutes later, Dozier converted three consecutive free throw attempts, pushing the St. Thomas advantage to nine points at 21-12.
  • Domond recorded three straight points, closing out the quarter with the Bobcats in front, 24-17.
  • Warner outscored St. Thomas, 10-5 in the second quarter, but Brooks closed the first half with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send STU into the break leading, 29-27.
  • Martinez – Sanz, Vogel and Dozier combined for seven points, to open the second half, giving STU a 36-31 lead.
  • Samaria August converted a rare, four-point play, pushing the Bobcat lead to 42-33 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter.
  • St. Thomas went into the fourth quarter, leading Warner, 42-35.
  • Dozier halted an 11-2 run by the Royals, and gave the Bobcats the lead with an "and-one", making the score 47-46.
  • On the next STU possession, Dozier converted another three-pointer to put the lead at 50-46.
  • In the final three minutes, Brooks turned into the Bobcat closer. The senior captain, scored 8-of-11 STU points, to seal a 61-52 Sun Conference win.
