MIAMI SHORES, FLA. (February 11
th, 2019) – St. Thomas University Softball team (4-2) swept both games of a doubleheader from Barry University, as the Bobcats defeated the Warriors from East Stroudsburg University and the Barry University Buccaneers.

Game One Notes
- Fresh off a nomination as the Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week, Jennifer Acevedo started game one of the doubleheader. Acevedo recorded four strikeouts in her first two innings of work.
- STU scored their first runs of the game in the second inning, as Emily Santos led the inning off with a single. Santos advanced to second on a ground out by Alexis Castroman and scored on a steal of third base, when the throw from the catcher sailed into the outfield.
- In the bottom of the third inning, the Bobcats got on the board again, as Melody Grafals reached on an error and scored on a RBI double from McKenna Delaware.
- Delaware came into score on an Alliyah Sands single to right field to extend the St. Thomas lead to 3-0.
- ESU scored their first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Bobcat lead to 3-1.
- The Bobcats responded to the Warrior run with a three run outburst in the fourth inning to lead 6-1.
- Sarah Deschenne singled to open the inning and scored on a Grafals bunt single. Rebeka Ehrenthal followed with a two-run single to centerfield which plated Grafals and GiGi Santos.
- ESU added another run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 6-2.
- Acevedo pursued a complete game performance, as the senior took the mound in the top of the seventh inning. However, was only able to get one out before being replaced by Kaitlin Spalding with the bases loaded.
- Spalding ended the Warrior threat with a pop-out to finish the win, recording her second save of the season, as the Bobcats won 6-4.

Game Two Notes
- In game two of the doubleheader, Spalding stayed on the mound to start, after finishing off the victory with a save in game one.
- St. Thomas wasted little time to gain a lead over Barry, as the Bobcats opened an 8-0 lead in the first inning of play.
- Grafals scored the first run of the game on a RBI single to left field as Sands drove in the run.
- Deschenne followed with a two-run single of her own, bringing in Sands and Delaware.
- Grafals, in her second at-bat of the inning, came up with the bases loaded and cleared the bases with a double, extending the Bobcats lead to 7-0.
- In the third inning, Delware brought in two more runs, on a single to left field, which brought in G. Santos and Dechenne.
- Spalding carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, which was preserved on a Nanet Manieri diving catch.
- The no-hit effort fell just short, as Barry recorded their first hit of the game on the next batter and scored their only run of the game in the fifth inning.
- Spalding finished a complete game to earn her first career collegiate win, in addition to the save she recorded in game one, as the Bobcats run-ruled the Buccaneers, 10-1.

St. Thomas will take on Miami-Dade College in a scrimmage doubleheader, on Wednesday, February 13
th. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
