MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 12
th, 2019) – The sixth-ranked St. Thomas University Bobcats (5-3) defeated Florida National University (3-7) 20-0 on Tuesday evening from Paul Demie Mainieri Field.
STU improves to 5-0 all-time against the Conquistadors with the win.

Game Notes
- Danger Guevara started the game for the Bobcats, escaping a bases loaded jam in the top of the first inning with back-to-back strikeouts to gain momentum for the STU offense.
- St. Thomas opened the game with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the first inning. Urbaez led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on another walk to Delgado.
- Diaz brought the pair in on a RBI double to center field to put STU up 2-0.
- Lopez quickly followed the Diaz double with his second home run of the season, as the senior launched the ball over the scoreboard, to extend the lead to 4-0.
- Mondejar doubled in the inning as well, which brought in Lowry, as the Bobcats took a commanding 5-0 lead.
- Jordan Rodriguez came into the game for his second career appearance in the second inning and pitched two innings to earn his second win of the season.
- The St. Thomas offense followed the five run first inning with an eleven-run bottom of the second inning.
- Diaz brought in Urbaez and Delgado, once again, with a two-run single to left field as STU opened a 7-0 lead.
- Lopez launched his second home run in as many innings/at-bats, third of the season, to extend the lead to 9-0.
- With the bases loaded, Thompson came to the plate and promptly singled to center field to bring in two more runs as the rout was on as the lead went to 11-0.
- Urbaez walked again to load the bases for Garabedian. The Bobcats first baseman just missed a grand slam to clear the bases, driving in three as STU took a 14-0 lead.
- St. Thomas added another run in the bottom of the third, as Thompson brought in Mondejar, following Mondejar's first triple of the season.
- Thompson collected two more RBIs, bringing his total to five for the game, on an another bases loaded single to right field, plating Diaz and A. Rivero.
- Guevara, J. Rodriguez, Morales, Sarmiento and Pino combined to pitch a shut-out for the Bobcats.
- STU polished off the 20-0 win over Florida National in a run rule, as the game ended in seven innings.
