#6 STU WALKS OFF AGAINST #24 KU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 22nd, 2019) – Sixth-ranked St. Thomas University (9-4, 3-1 TSC) won in thrilling, walk-off fashion, against #24 Keiser University (9-4, 5-2 TSC) 9-8 on Friday night in the NAIA Ball Podcast Series of the Week!

Game Notes
  • St. Thomas opened the game trailing the 5-0, as the Seahawks scored five-runs in the first inning. The rally was highlighted by a three-run home run.
  • STU responded with one-run in the bottom half of the inning, as birthday boy, Chris Garabedian lined a single to right to bring in Erick Delgado.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bobcats offense recorded four consecutive singles, capped off by a Delgado single, which brought in Jack Diaz.
  • A RBI groundout by Joey Thompson, brought in Chris Allende to score and cut the deficit in half at 5-3.
  • Garabedian singled to right, for the second time in the game, to bring in Gus Guerra to make the score 5-4.
  • The Bobcats had runners on first-and-third with one out in the inning, Garabedian forced himself into a rundown, giving Delgado enough time to score and tie the game at 5-5.
  • Keiser added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to take an 8-5 lead over St. Thomas.
  • In the bottom of the ninth inning, with STU trailing 8-5, Diaz led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch to start a Bobcat rally. Daniel Mondejar followed with a single to left and Guerra walked to load the bases.
  • Delgado, with his fourth hit of the night, singled to left to bring in Allende and Joel Rivero to cut the deficit to 8-7, with no outs.
  • Guerra capitalized on a passed ball by the Seahawk catcher to tie the game at 8-8.
  • Alejandro Rivero, with one out in the inning, ripped a single past the third baseman to bring in the winning run, as the Bobcats walked off and won Game One of the series, 9-8.
