BOBCATS LOSE TSC MATCH-UP VS WARRIORS

BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 9th, 2019) – (RV) St. Thomas University Women's Basketball team (21-6, 13-3 TSC) lost in the final road Sun Conference match-up versus Webber International University (9-15, 4-12 TSC) 88-69 on Saturday evening.

Saturday's loss, marks only the second St. Thomas University defeat since November 29th. The Bobcats are 18-2 in twenty games during that stretch.
STU also finalized their position in the upcoming Sun Conference tournament as the second seed. St. Thomas has earned a first round "bye" and will play in the semi-finals in Lakeland, Fla. The Sun Conference tournament semi-final games will be on February 22nd.

Game Notes
  • Within the first four minutes of the game, STU opened a five-point advantage at 9-4, as Anari Dozier knocked in a three-point bucket.
  • Gianni Domond gave STU a 22-12 lead, as the freshman knocked in both free throw shots.
  • Keiana Brooks made a lay-up to give the Bobcats a 24-12 lead to double the score of the Warriors.
  • St. Thomas maintained their double digit advantage into the second quarter, as Chakari Merritt extended the lead to 26-16.
  • Webber international finished the quarter on an 8-2 run to send the game into the halftime break tied, 35-35.
  • STU was outscored 9-4, within the first three minutes of the third quarter to find themselves down 44-39.
  • A 9-0 run by the Bobcats, featuring a three-pointer from Jaddah Knight and Dozier, as well as an "and-one" by Samara Auguste, gave St. Thomas a 48-44 lead.
  • The Bobcats could not sustain the momentum, as the Warriors rallied for a 16-6 run, the two Sun Conference teams went into the final quarter with STU trailing 60-54.
  • St. Thomas was on the wrong end of a 18-3 run to open the fourth quarter, and the Bobcats were unable to get back in the game, falling in Sun Conference action, 80-69.
