#6 BOBCATS BEAT SEAHAWKS IN NON-TSC ACTION

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 25th, 2019) – No. 6 St. Thomas University Bobcats Baseball (39-11) defeated (RV) Keiser University (32-19) 5-4 in non-conference on Thursday afternoon from Silvester Field.

Game Notes
  • Alex Sarmiento (1-0) earned his first win of the season, pitching five innings striking out two and allowing one earned run.
  • Keiser opened the scoring with a home run in the bottom of the first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Bobcats.
  • The score held at 1-0 until the top of the sixth inning, when Sergio Lopez brought the game to a tie with a RBI double down the third base line to bring in Urbaez.
  • Jack Diaz followed with a RBI groundout, bringing in Thompson and giving STU a 2-1 lead.
  • St. Thomas capped off the inning with a RBI single from Chris Garabedian, bringing in Lopez, extending the lead to 3-1.
  • Eddie Escribano pitched the sixth inning, allowing one run to score.
  • Keanu Guzman entered the game in the seventh inning, pitching 1.1 innings and allowing one hit.
  • Joel Rivero recorded the final two outs in the eighth inning and escaped a bases loaded jam with a strikeout.
  • In the top of the ninth inning, Garabedian (fourth) and A. Rivero (ninth) blasted back-to-back home runs to extend the STU lead to 5-2.
  • Tyler Morales came into the game, in a save situation, and allowed two earned runs but finished the win as STU won the team's eighth consecutive contest.
