WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 2, 2019) – Second-seeded St. Thomas University (42-12) dropped Game One of the Sun Conference Championship Baseball Tournament to fifth-seeded Warner University (33-19) 10-8 on Thursday afternoon from the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

Game Notes
- Prior to the start of the game, the Sun Conference distributed awards and recognized nine St. Thomas University players with awards, including Pitcher of the Year (Ian Exposito) and Freshman of the Year (Joey Thompson)
- Orlando Rodriguez (8-2) made the start for the Bobcats, lasting 6.1 innings, striking out eight and allowing seven earned runs.
- St. Thomas opened the scoring with a Sergio Lopez home run, his fourteenth of the season, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
- Warner responded with a four-run bottom of the second inning, taking a 4-2 lead, as the Royals cleared the bases with a three-run double.
- The score held at 4-2 until the bottom of the seventh inning, as WU added five runs, taking a 9-2 lead.
- Joel Rivero entered with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh inning, allowing two earned runs and striking out one.
- Warner tagged on another run in the eighth inning, taking a 10-2 advantage.
- Lopez launched his second home run of the game, fifteenth of the season, leading off the ninth inning for St. Thomas.
- A two-run double by Thompson, brought in Garabedian and Diaz, cutting the deficit in half at 10-5.
- Jackie Urbaez singled in two more runs, scoring Thompson and Rivero, bringing the Bobcats down two at 10-8.
- Lopez walked to put the tying run on first base, however, the Bobcat rally fell short and STU lost the tournament opener, 10-8.
