ALLENDE LEADS BOBCATS PAST VIKINGS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (August 24, 2019) – St. Thomas University Volleyball (3-5) ended a three match losing streak, claiming victory against Missouri Valley College (1-5) in four sets (25-19, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21) on Saturday morning in the STU Invitational.

Game Notes
  • STU and MVC were tied at 8-8, partway through the first set, before five consecutive points and a 6-1 run by the Bobcats gave St. Thomas a 14-9 lead.
  • Chenault recorded three straight kills for St. Thomas in the first set, extending the lead to 16-9.
  • Three consecutive kills by the duo of Allende and Taylor Turner pushed the St. Thomas lead to 19-11, as Allende added two kills in an early-career high performance of 19.
  • The Bobcats clinched the first set victory, following a Vikings service error.
  • St. Thomas opened the second set with four consecutive points; Beecham started the rally with a service ace.
  • The Vikings stormed back, rallying for six straight points to take a 6-4 lead.
  • STU finished the second set with five-of-six points with Allende leading the charge, recording three kills.
  • In the third set, St. Thomas began with a 9-2 advantage. Kendall Brock recorded four kills.
  • Back-to-back kills by Allende extended the STU lead to 11-5.
  • MVC rallied for five-of-six points of their own, forcing the Bobcats to burn a timeout, after the Vikings took a 17-16 lead.
  • St. Thomas dropped 8-of-10 points to close the third set, 21-25.
  • A Bollinger kill gave St. Thomas a 6-3 lead in the fourth set, capping off a five-point Bobcat rally.
  • STU rallied for another five-point run, as Carli Batsel sealed the run with a kill, putting the score at 12-6.
  • Bolinger added another kill to give St. Thomas their largest lead of the match, nine, at 17-8.
  • Four consecutive kills by STU sealed the victory as Allende, Turner and Chenault sealed the St. Thomas set victory at 25-21.
