BOBCATS SPLIT SEASON SERIES WITH WARRIORS

BABSON PARK, Fla. (January 23, 2020) – St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball (7-13, 4-6 TSC) lost a crucial Sun Conference game against Webber International (11-9, 5-5 TSC) 69-53 from the Sabbagh Athletic Center on Thursday evening.
 
Bobcat Starters Game Notes
  • Webber began the game on a 5-0 run, before a Brooks jump-shot fell for STU and got the Bobcats on the board.
  • Midway through the opening quarter, WIU lead 10-4, following a lay-up.
  • With less than a minute remaining, STU began to stage a comeback; sinking three consecutive free throws and cutting the deficit to 15-13.
  • In the second quarter, a Wilson three-pointer gave the Bobcats their first lead of the game, 19-18.
  • A quick 6-0 spurt by the Bobcats, reclaimed St. Thomas the lead, as Patricia Martinez – Sanz, Vogel and Kayla Rodriguez all added points
  • Four consecutive points by Wilson pushed the lead to 31-26, halfway through the second quarter.
  • STU went into halftime leading 36-33.
  • Webber tied the game 42-42, with 6:07 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Samaria August and Vogel contributed back-to-back baskets to put STU ahead 46-42.
  • WIU took the lead over, 48-46, with 2:52 left in the quarter.
  • STU was held off the scoreboard until 4:45 remaining in the fourth, as Martinez – Sanz made a free throw to put the score at 66-47.
  • The Bobcats added six more points on as Vogel scored four points, but dropped their third consecutive game, losing 69-53/
