AVE MARIA, Fla. (January 4, 2020) - St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball (6-9, 3-2 TSC) began the new year with their fifth consecutive loss, dropping a Sun Conference contest, 72-67 to the Ave Maria University Gyrenes (12-4, 5-1 TSC) on Saturday afternoon from the Tom Golisano Fieldhouse.

- STU capitalized following an August steal, as Dozier netted a three-pointer to open the scoring in the Sun Conference match-up.
- Domond gave the Bobcats their largest lead of the first quarter, making a lay-up, putting the score at 10-5.
- Ave Maria briefly reclaimed the lead, making two free throws, before Brooks gave St. Thomas a 14-13 advantage with less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
- STU did not add more points for the remainder of the quarter, and the Gyrenes closed with a 7-0 run, taking a 20-14 to close the first.
- AMU extended their lead to 15-points, 33-18 before a Destiny Wilson cut the deficit to ten, midway through the second quarter.
- Wilson added a three-pointer and Dozier converted three consecutive points, bringing the Bobcats within four points, 33-24 with three minutes remaining.
- Both teams went scoreless, over the final two minutes, as STU went into the half trailing 33-29.
- St. Thomas began the second half outscoring Ave Maria, 9-5, tying the game at 38-38, following an August fastbreak lay-up.
- Vogel added two-points as the Bobcats reclaimed the lead, 40-38, for the first time since the Brooks lay-up in the first quarter.
- Dozier capped off the third quarter with a made lay-up, giving STU a 50-49 advantage.
- Back-to-back three-pointers from Dozier and Wilson, pushed the Bobcat lead to 56-51 to open the fourth quarter.
- AMU tied the game at 59-59 at the five-minute mark of the final quarter.
- The Gyrenes closed out STU and won the Sun Conference match-up, 72-67.
