BOBCATS FALL AGAINST SANDSHARKS IN TSC QUARTERS

The fifth-seeded St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team (5-6) saw it's 2020 season come to an end with a 2-3 defeat in double overtime by University of South Carolina Beaufort (5-5) in the Sun Conference Quarterfinal round on Sunday afternoon.

Game Notes: 

  • Bobcats dominated the first half, outshooting the Sandsharks 11-3.
  • Manzur secured the game's first goal with a header at the 8th minute off a corner kick from Ferradaz to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
  • Going into the 44th minute of the game, Kayla Jackson extended the Bobcat lead 2-0 with a header passed the keeper.
  • USCB got on the board in the 54th minute to close the lead 2-1.
  • UCSB tied the game in the 55th minute 2-2.
  • Bobcats attempted three shots in the next five minutes to pull ahead but just fell short.
  • The Bobcats and Sandsharks were evenly matched, going into overtime.
  • The first overtime ended in a stalemate, causing the game to go into double overtime.
  • The Bobcats outshot the Sandsharks 2-1 in the first overtime.
  • In the 103rd minute of the game, Mari Kalvatn scored the game-winning goal for the Sandsharks, making the final score 3-2.
  • Ferradaz led the team with 8 shots and two assists on the day.
