CLERMONT, Fla. (February 29, 2020) - St. Thomas University (STU) Softball (3-7) split their doubleheader in day two of the PFX Games, defeating Siena Heights (MI.) (0-2) 6-5, and losing to Mount Vernon Nazarene (OH.) (4-6), 9-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Game Notes
- Siena Heights got on the board in the first inning against the Bobcats, scoring on an RBI single to left field, taking a 1-0 lead.
- STU quickly tied the game, as Rosado reached on an error to bring in Artiles.
- Winter recorded a shutdown inning, as Colon recorded a double play with Samaniego
- The Bobcats broke the game open in the bottom of the third inning, scoring four runs.
- Samaniego and Artiles recorded back-to-back hits, as Artiles brought in Samaniego on an RBI single, putting STU in front, 2-1.
- Artiles later scored on a wild pitch.
- Colon doubled to right-center, plating Rosado.
- STU capped off the inning with their fourth and final run, as Colon scored on another error, as St. Thomas took a 5-1 lead.
- Winter allowed the second run of the game in the top of the fourth inning, on an RBI double, putting the score at 5-2.
- SHU rallied to tie the game in the final inning, as Winter was relieved by Abbigail Smith.
- The freshman, Smith, entered the game with two outs and the bases loaded and displayed a veteran presence, recording a groudout to escape the jam and preserve a 5-5 tie.
- Pla led off the bottom of the seventh by reaching on an errorm before being pinch-ran for by Sarah Descheene.
- Descheene was moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt, as McDade stepped to the plate.
- McDade singled to second, as the Bobcats walked-off to win their third game of the season, 6-5.

- Following her first collegiate win, Smith got the starting nod in game two for the Bobcats and recorded a 1-2-3 inning.
- Mount Vernon Nazarene scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, first on a sacrifice fly ad then on an RBI fielder's choice, taking a 2-0 lead.
- MVNU tagged on five runs in the bottom of the third inning, chasing Smith from the game as Kaitlyn Spalding took over in the circle for STU.
- Colon blasted her first career collegiate home run, driving the ball over the center field wall and bringing in Rosado.Â
- The score held until the bottom of the sixth, as MVNUÂ added a home run of their own, adding to the lead and putting the score at 9-2.
- Two consecutive singles from Martin and Schmitz tried to start a last-inning rally; however, STU could not score and lost the game, 9-2.
