STU SPLITS MIAMI GARDENS SERIES WITH FMU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 8th, 2020) – The St. Thomas Women's Basketball team (9-15, 6-8 TSC) split the series against the Florida Memorial University Lions (12-12, 7-7 TSC) as they fall 60-70 on Saturday night at the FMU Wellness Center. The Battle of Miami Gardens concludes for the 2019-20 season.

Game Notes:
  • Florida Memorial jumped out to an 8-2 lead against St. Thomas in the first two-minutes.
  • The Bobcats were able to get a layup from Vogel and a three-pointer from August to bring it to 8-7.
  • Patricia Martinez-Sanz hits a layup with eleven-seconds left to take a lead into the second quarter.
  • FMU would gain a lead as big as eight-points that Stu would work back from and go into the half down two-points after a buzzer lay-in by Brooks.
  • In the third quarter the Lions opened up the game and took a 10-point lead until Anari Dozier hit a three to cut it back down to single digits.
  • Vogel concluded the first half with eight points, four rebounds, and three blocks.
  • In the third quarter the Bobcats continued to battle as Dozier nailed another three with 6:06 remaining to bring it to 42-41.
  • St. Thomas went on a 7-0 run within a minute and tied the game with a Martinez-Sanz three pointer.
  • The Bobcats outscored the Florida Memorial in the paint 32-30.
